Last Friday, our 5th graders turned the school lobby into "St. Aloysius Super Speedway" by racing their balloon-powered racers to see which car could go the farthest and fastest. For an assignment in Mrs. Hruby's science class, students designed their own cars using common objects. The purpose of the assingment was to show the force generated from air escaping in an opposite direction. Gabe Krejchiks vehicle (with the balloon unattached) proved to be the clear winner! Good job, Gabe!
Cousins Vincent Krejchik (L) and Gabe Krejchik (R) fill their "gas tanks" in preparation for the race while Calvin Breunig and Fatima Gonzales look on.
